Oddest Dog Photo Contest!
6 months ago – Sun, May 26, 2024 at 10:39:28 AM

Greetings!

I want to thank all of you for believing in this project and for your support. We are THIS close to celebrating 75% funding, which is better than I could've hoped!

There is a definite lull in the 2nd and 3rd week of a campaign, both for the creator and for backers. To combat this, I'm pleased to announce The Oddest Dog Photo Contest!

This is meant to be a fun and easy contest that I hope will help raise awareness of the project. People can enter their oddest dog photos and get votes daily from friends and family. The winner will receive a $100 Chewy gift card and get their odd dog illustrated into the book.

I'm also making appointments with area rescues and shelters, encouraging them to submit photos as well. I'm providing them with a special frame that says their dog is adoptable in the hopes of raising awareness of their more quirky charges.

The contest is available at OddDogPhotoContest.com. You can enter your best shot before June 7th, with voting available until June 16th. I'll be announcing the winner on June 17th.

I hope you'll share this fun event with your favorite dog moms and dog dads. It only takes a minute to enter, and it will give the winner a memory of a lifetime!

Thank you for all of your support, and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Happy National Rescue Dog Day!
7 months ago – Mon, May 20, 2024 at 11:51:07 AM

It's National Rescue Dog Day, and what makes it particularly special is that we are more than 50% funded after our first week! This could not have happened without all of you and your support, so THANK YOU!

I was inspired to create The Odd Dog by our rescue dog, Layla. While this isn't her story, per se, she was definitely a visual inspiration. I can see the resemblance-- can you?

Layla also has a bit of baggage like our main character. A year ago she 'door darted' from her foster (i.e. ran out the door) and survived in the 'wild' for eighteen days. Thankfully she was caught, but it was a story that kept her from being adopted again and again, in spite of a sweet personality.

When we adopted her, we knew it was up to us to ensure her safety, so we made sure she knew the neighborhood, keep an eye on her when she's outside at all times, and basically do everything we can to keep her safe.

Like so many of you, our dog is a member of our family, and we do our best to never take that for granted.

By pledging to this campaign, you are helping create a story that is the first chapter in our work advocating and fundraising for rescue dogs just like Layla. We're so grateful for you and your support!

Sincerely,

Leia

PS-- I'd love to hear your rescue stories! Reply in the comments in honor of National Rescue Dog Day!

WOW! Thanks for making this such a great launch!

It's always stressful when you begin a crowdfunding campaign. You put everything out there and just hope people are paying attention. Well-- thank YOU for being the first to help bring this book to life!

In the coming weeks, I'll do my best to give you insider knowledge about how the book is going and new developments.

You should also know I purposely set a low goal so we could crush it early and hopefully get some stretch goals in. Stretch goals mean more swag and more exciting opportunities for early adopters like you, so any help spreading the word is appreciated!

If you'd like to share the campaign out, here's a free Canva template you can use! Here's an example of the template featuring Bones McCoy, one of the amazing doggos who will be in the book!

Thank you so, so much for your support, and have a PAWSitive day!

Sincerely,

Leia B
